Dimitri sits up from the spot on the ground he has been quietly been lying upon. He looks up at Whit and speaks before Thanatos.
"You've got the hots for Kimato, doncha, Whit?" Dimitri cackles with a sly chuckle. "I 'll stay behind. I'm a little out of practice in gun combat, and I'm good at lying, as Whit already knows."
After speaking his piece, Dimitri folds his hands behind his head and reclines on bare ground smiling.

*Whitakker shoots a withering glare at Dimitri, quickly wiping the smile off his face.*
"I am not suggesting that, Dimitri. I only said that it will be difficult to hide our operation from her."
*Whitakker finishes his retort, and then under his breath, unaudible:*
"Perv."

Thanatos directs his first comment to the group as a whole, with hope finally dismissing the issue concerning the exclusion of Kimato.
"How the deception is carried out is irrevelant. It is merely imperative that Lady Kimato does not learn of the operation, particularly if the method used to obtain the gasoline is one of violence. She is not yet ready for such things, and at least a few members of the expedition must remain pure of heart if our venture is to reach its ultimate objective."
The gleaming, beetle-black visor now directs itself towards Whitakker particularly.
"Any unyielding resistance encountered will be eliminated. Difficult as some might find it, the sanctity of individual human life must become a secondary objective when the primary objective we are faced with is of such mammoth significance. Also bear in mind that any survivors will retain memories of our presence, which in turn will be transfered to the MASS organism if any of the survivors are ever possessed. Tread carefully..."
With that, Thanatos turns soundlessly on his heel, beginning a swift walk into the darkness in the direction he claims houses the Bloodied Blades Syndicate house.

I am firmly ageinst leaveing kimoto behind. You see I think she will do quite well seeing that she is a very skilled fighter and does quite well in combat besides I have noticed she wakes up every so often. So I think she should come with us after all we did hire her for her skills… but that just what I think…

"I agree. I believe that the choice should be hers and hers alone. None of us can make that choice for her, Thanatos. I respectfully suggest you reevaluate your plan on how to deal with her. I have the feeling that she wouldn't be terribly happy about being left in the dark left out of the group. She is part of the group, afterall. But, it's your decision of course. I'm just cautioning you against the reciprocations."
*Whitakker finishes speaking, and gathers his belongings, slowly aiming for the direction Thanatos is heading.*
"What's your choice?"

Dimitri cuts his eyes over toward the direction that the others are departing in.
"Whit, such a charade thou art. You act cool and collected, but it's way too easy to get you riled!" he chuckles as he sits down in front of the fire. He reaches over toward his bag and pulls out several small machines and schematics. He begins to tinker with the machines and drawing up more blueprints and notes.
"Hmm, I guess I should try to think up my deception for Kimato. Or... maybe I could tell her the truth about the raid. I like the second option. I'm tired of lying, and I bet the looks on their faces when Kimato confronted them would be great!" Dimitri thought aloud.
Suddenly, he heard something stir behind him. He quickly whipped around with his gun drawn and a cold look in his eyes.

She couldn't sleep. After the first nightmare had come more...vivid pictures in her mind of Cyr, Kakumei, and Kyerie, and horrible memories of the night they had all disappeared from her life. And then, out of the fog in her tired mind, emerged images of Nicholi. He had smiling...and Kimato immediately found this odd, because she couldn't remember ever, in the short time she had known him, seeing him smile. Perhaps a small, half-hearted grin, but not a really smile, not happy like this one.
Then, his face had changed. The look of pure joy seemed to twist into a look of evil pleasure...the kind that some people derive from causing others pain...and it was no longer Nicholi, but Cyr. He held out his hands, and again he asked, "Will you follow me?"
How long will my mind torture me with that question? Why did I not leave with him?
Because you knew, said a small voice of wisdom in the background of her thoughts, you knew he was cruel underneath, and you knew he had taken them, even though you could never have proved it.
Yes, she had known. She had known with the kind of knowing that cannot be denied, and yet wished that she had not known, or that it had not been true at all.
Sighing, Kimato sits up straight and stares out the window opposite her, away from the camp and into the night. It is no use. I will not sleep again tonight. Getting up resignedly, she puts away the red and white kimono still serving as her blanket, and gets out of the car as silently as possible, not wishing to disturb any others that might be asleep. Walking toward the fire, she sees only Dimitri, playing with one of his machines, his back to her. The others were nowhere near, presumably having already gone to bed. Wondering what could have kept him awake so late, she continues her approach...and it halted by a low, scraggly bush catching it's brittle little branches on her skirt. Leaning down, she untangles it, and looks up again...
to find Dimitri facing her, his gun drawn and his eyes alive with suspicion.
"Eh...I am sorry to disturb you. I could not seem to sleep tonight." With relief she notes that his expression has calmed and his gun is lowered, though there still seems to be something uneasy about his stance and demeanor. "Might I join you? I will not disturb your tinkering."

Dimitri looks over at Kimato and smiles his usual smile.
"You don't have to be so scared, Miss Kimato, I promise you that I'm a gentleman. You just surprised me. I don't mind you joining me, I really could use some company, maybe even a convesation or two." Dimitri speaks in a reassuring voice.
There is something wrong here. I've never reacted to a sound that way before. I had better be more careful. Dimitri thought to himself as Kimato sat down near him at the fire. He tries to continue his previous work, he finds that he is unable to concentrate. Instead, he tries to break the deafening silence between himself and Kimato.
"Miss Kimato, I hate to sound rude and/or paranoid, but, are you frightened of me?"

Syrant says nothing as the group argues over if Kimato should stay or go. Not caring Syrant leaves behind Thanatos, hoping the others will join without to much fuss. Syrant stares foward thinking about the fight that will soon take place.

Thanatos' answer to Whitakker's badgering question is simple, soft and icy words sounding in Whitakker's ear even though the man knows for a fact that Thanatos is some distance ahead.
"None doubt my logic."
With a courteous nod towards Syrant, Thanatos moves to match the gunman's pace, the rest of the group with the exception of Dimitri adopting a quick walk as well. From the sound of it, Dimitri is already being forced to put his innate charismatic skills to the test. The group majority that now embarks on this mission have already moved safely out of the range of detection, however, making deception all the more easier.
It will take less than an hour for the party to reach its ill-fated destination... --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kimato looks at Dimitri strangely, wondering at such an odd question, but still considering seriously before she answered. After a moment, she replied,
"No. I am not afraid of you..." He must have heard the trailing off in her statement, for he raises an eyebrow as if waiting for her to continue.
Looking down at her hands, Kimato says, in a very small, ashamed voice, "I am frightened by Thanatos." Looking up quickly, "I know...Nicholi trusted him, and placed him with us as a leader. But..." she trails off again, struggling to find words to fit the strange feeling the tall, silent man instilled in her.
"...he is so very lifeless...and cold. It is as if he has no heart, but only a mind. He cannot feel, but only think. I do not know...perhaps I judge him too harshly, but I have never met such a cold human being."
Falling silent, Kimato stares into the firelight, a sense of security wrapping around her being as she takes in the smell, the feel, the sight of the warm, bright fire.
Only then does she think to find it odd how very silent everything is. Except for the crackling of the fire, there are no sounds of men sleeping...no rustling of Argis stirring in his sleep nearby. No sound of Whitakker snoring from somewhere unseen. Usually, she can hear him snore, no matter how far away she is from where he sleeps, and even with her being in the car. Tonight, she is outside, and still she hears...nothing.
Turning to Dimitri, she notices again how uneasy he seems. Her eyes narrow slightly as a suspicion steals across her mind...and she dismisses it immediately.
You're being paranoid again, stupid girl. They would never... Still, it was all very unnaturally quiet. Trying to push the thoughts out of her mind, she focusses on what Dimitri has been saying the past several seconds.

"It's good that I don't scare you. You've nothing to fear from me. The reason I asked is because I would like to have at least one trustworthy friend." Dimitri says to Kimato as he stares into the fire.
After several minutes of silence pass, Dimitri once more tries to strike up a lasting conversation.
"Kimato, what you said about Thanatos earlier, you do know he is an android, right? That's why he is so cold and unfeeling." he pipes up as he retrives a small paperback book from his sack. He takes out a pen from his pants pocket and begins to scribble something in the book. When he sees the shocked expression on Kimato's face, he simply says:
"You did know, right?"

Kimato had not known...had had no idea at all. But it made sense. It explained his wonderful sense of hearing, and his other amazingly keen abilities...not to mention his lack of emotion.
"No. I did not know that about Thanatos."
She continues to stare aimlessly into the night as Dimitri scribbles in his little book. It is apparent by his unlifting fidgety manner that something is amiss. Perhaps it is only her own lack of communication...or perhaps...
The suspicion, put down quietly earlier, arises in her again, and cannot be silenced so easily this time. Still she has heard no whisper of movement from anything but herself, Dimitri, and the crackling fire. Squinting into the darker areas surrounding the campsite, she sees no sign of any lumps that could be sleeping bodies, and the suspicion grows stronger.
Surely they would not have gone somewhere, leaving us behind...
And then it dawned on her. Thanatos and the other men had indeed not gone anywhere and left the two of them behind. They had left her behind. And Dimitri to watch her. Turning to Dimitri, her eyes narrowed dangerously, she inquires of him, keeping her voice very innocent and measured.
"Dimitri...you want a trustworthy friend...and I do, as well. I want to trust and be trusted. So, why do we not start with a simple question, answered truthfully by you?"
He looks at her warily, and she realizes that he knows what she is going to ask.
"Where have Thanatos and the others gone?" Her voice is no longer innocent and sweet, but carries a hard edge to it, a definite tinge of anger underlying each carefully spoken syllable. She waits, her anger rising with every silent second that passes, to see if she truly can trust Dimitri...or if he will try to deceive her further.

Oh, boy. This really is a hard one. On one hand, I've got my job from Thanatos, but on the other, I've got my budding friendship with Kimato. Dimitri thinks to himself.
"Miss Kimato...the others...they...went on a Syndicate House raid for supplies..."
I'd rather have a group of warriors mad at me than Kimato. Sorry guys, but she's got a killer right hook. Dimitri thinks as he rubs the place on his jaw where Kimato belted him several days before.
"Now that you know the truth, Miss Kimato," Dimitri says after a few moments of horrible silence pass. "What will you do now?"

Her fists clenched and she ground her teeth in anger when she heard Dimitri's reply...then, looking up, she had seen his apprehension...and her expression softened.
I cannot be angry with him. He told me the truth, after all.
"I am not sure what I will do, Dimitri. However, I am grateful that you told me the truth. Now, we both have at least one friend on this expedition that we can trust..." her face hardens.
"...but when Thanatos gets back..." she cracks her knuckles. Then, to Dimitri's utter bewilderment, she is suddenly her quiet self again...
"Did he say why he preferred that the two of us stay behind?"
She does not really need to ask...she knows. It is apparent in nearly everyone but Dimitri and perhaps the man called Argis...they all seem to think her basically worthless. They only let you tag along because Nicholi said so. Stupid girl...you should have left them to their world-saving and continued on your way.
