Thanatos half-listens to Argis' words, the majority of his thought processes focused on carefully measuring the efficiency and power of each of his sub-systems in preparation for the combat ahead. He also continues to monitor Kimato's movements with particular care, one hand poised within his overcoat, ready to act at an instant's notice.
That instant does not take long in coming.
As Kimato's appearance begins its wild shift, Thanatos is drawing a sharp-edged throwing dagger from its place of concealment, now prepared for the worst. Kimato has shown every possible indication of one that is struggling against possession by the MASS organism, and it appears she has finally lost her battle. The android watches almost casually as the neo-Kimato draws her chakram, beginning an upwards slice in Dimitri's direction.
In less than a milisecond the assassin has made the necessary calculations, releasing his throwing dagger with an unerring level of accuracy. The blade streaks towards the MASS-possessed Kimato, its Aegisite alloy tip almost effortlessly piercing the ornamental chakram as it knocks the weapon clear of her hands.
Not bothering to examine his handiwork, Thanatos quickly speaks out instructions, visor now focused on the detachment of MASS-possessed that seems notably closer than it had seconds before.
"Take care of the Lady Kimato, and slay her only if necessary. Prepare for difficult combat...it will be less than one minute now before the Assault Vehicles are in range."
At this Thanatos' motorcycle turns of its own accord, the android jumping lithely onto its smooth metal frame as it rapidly accelerates in the direction of the approaching armada. Lowering himself quickly into the shielded pilot's seat, Thanatos' mind becomes blank, all of its substantial power now focused on the distant line of vehicles directly in front of him. He indulges one lingering thought as his motorcycle continues its rapid climb in speed, now well past the 200 kpm mark.
It is intriguing that so many negative events have occurred within such close proximity to one another. Perhaps fate does indeed possess a sense of humor...

(Sorry about the absence of posts, I was out-of-state and away from the Internet for awhile.)
As the distance is closed between the MASS-possessed and Thanatos' caravan, Rune drops his damaged motorcycle's speed down, increasing his distance from the back of the group.
He hears some of the caravan's members speaking, and one, Argis, says his name, questioning as to the rocket launcher. Rune ignores him, figuring that Argis will notice the absence of any rockets (or a launcher for that matter) on his being. Instead, he focuses on Kimato, watching the escalating event that is taking place between her and Dimitri. Soon, her appearance has changed and she has attempted to attack Dimitri, but Thanatos thwarts her effort.
Rune views everything around him in a detached way, being only a spectator and not a participant. He says nothing as he adjusts the bike's speed, increasing it to it's highest capabilities, and begins to trail Thanatos' course. Though Thanatos is highly faster and is quickly gaining ground, Rune silently shadows him from afar, watching and waiting for an oppurtunity to quickly close the distance, if that is possible, and possibly to attack...
As Kimato is overrun with her MASS infestation and the range between the two convoys is closed, Rune draws one of his two scrapmetal blades and prepares to fight... against either enemy, the MASS or Thanatos, whichever presents itself at the most oppurtune time...

Dimitri looks at the chakram that now lies at his feet. He quickly switches his gaze to look atthe dark voids that were once Kimato's eyes.
Now what do I do?! I can't hurt Kimato, she's my only true friend!
Dimitri slowly pulls out his revolver and pulls back the pistol's hammer.
What a nightmare! Why don't I just turn and run?
No. I've gotta try and help Kimato.
"Please Kimato, don't make me shoot you, just stay right there. Please, you're in there somewhere, just fight it." Dimitri manages to stammer.
What can I do? I'm useless!

Kimato stares out at Dimitri, seeing his gun and his frantic expression. He seems to be trying to talk to her, but she cannot hear.
Dimitri...get away! Please, get away from me before I try again to hurt you! Through the dark blanket over her soul, she sees his shaking hand on the pistol and his hesitation. Her heart breaking, she watches as her own two hands reach toward Dimitri, grasping for his throat.
Dimitri! Shoot me...please...if you do not do SOMETHING the MASS will kill you!
She watches, holding her breath, waiting, hoping to die rather than hurt her friend. Outside, Dimitri stares as tears begin to roll out of the soulless eyes of his only friend, even as she reaches out to choke the life from him.

As Rune follows Thanatos towards the enemy, he risks a glance over his shoulder to see the situation with Kimato. As she reaches out to choke Dimitri, he looks back at Thanatos, trying to come to a decision. Then, cursing beneath his breath, he turns the bike in a 180, heading back towards Kimato and Dimitri, unsure of how he'll help or even WHY he wants to help...

As the MASS army gets closer the more aggressive Kimato seems to become. I knew this was bound to happen. Even though the MASS in her was weak and dormant the arrival of all this MASS has strengthen it and called it out. Syrant speaks out a plan to the group quickly for time grows very short.
"The only thing we can do for Kimato is the stop the thing that has caused this. I think if we can eliminate this approaching MASS then Kimato can fight to overcome the weaken MASS inside her. If this doesn't do it then she'll have to die."
Syrant's darken eyes glare over the group.
"Someone needs to keep her busy so that she won't cause trouble while we fight."
Syrant awaits someone to respond and hopes that this plan won't fail, even though he has never encountered a case where someone rejected MASS control.

As Rune is coming into earshot of Syrant's words, he is thinking exactly the same thing: to help, he would need to fight the approaching MASS. What good would it do to fight her while they get cut down from behind?
He turns the bike yet again, though he doesn't even consider chasing Thanatos down... yet.
He rides towards the MASS again... and realizes that there is really no distance between the two anymore.

I've gotta keep her busy. Dimitri thinks as he slowly puts away his revolver. He quickly decides what he must do.
Brave men die a single death... Please give me strength, Lord. Dimtri silently prays as he charges Kimato and pushes her with all his might. Scrambling over to where she lands, he manages pins her by the shoulders to the ground.
"Sorry Kimato..." Dimtri quietly wispers "You might not believe me, but this is hurting me more than you. I wish there was some other way..."
This won't hold her too long. If only I could help her break free of the possesion...

Kimato watches from the silent place in her mind as Dimitri lunges at her, throwing her to the ground and pinning her down.
Good! Okay, just keep me still...do not let me get up from there!
Dimitri is saying something to her, whispering something in her ear.
"Sorry Kimato..."
Kimato's eyes widen. I can hear you. She feels the dark blanket shift uneasily over her mind, as if a wind is blowing over her soul and trying to lift it away. Still, it does not move, but she can hear Dimitri's voice...and other things, too, though they are faint and far away.
I can hear you! Dimitri! I can here you!
"Dimitri!" The sound of her own voice startles her, and she watches through her own eyes as surprise covers the pained expression on Dimitri's face. However, she still cannot control her body, and feels herself struggling against his grip even as she struggles against the alien control over her mind.
At the sound of her voice, Kimato feels Dimitri's grip slacken. No! I am still not myself! Do not let go of me yet, you idiot! Stupid girl...you have to warn him! Say something!
Kimato's face twitches with the effort of fighting the MASS's control, her eyes squeezed shut and her teeth gritting together.
"DONOTLETGO!!" The words come out in a rush, an outburst of sheer will from Kimato before she falls back into the desperate struggle for control of her facilities. Feeling her hand reach for her gun, she fights even harder, praying that Dimitri will be able to hold her at bay, or that he will have the sense to kill her before she kills him.

Dimitri immediately tightens his grip at the sound of Kimato's shout in pure shock.
Juding by the way she's struggling and by her appearance, she must still be partially under the Mass's influence. I've just got to hold her down long enough for the others to beat the Mass. C'mon you can do it, Dimitri, don't give up.
"Hey guys!" Dimitri turns his head and shouts to the other members of the group, "Do you think you could take care of these guys pretty soon? I don't know how long I can hold her."
As the others turn to face the oncoming enemy and attack, Dimitri's focus once more turns to Kimato.
"Can you still hear me, Kimato?"

Second after agonizing second ticks by as the distance between the heavily armed convoy and the lone motorcycle grows smaller and smaller, Thanatos' strange vehicle continuing to build speed. The android is now wholly unaware of the complex drama unfolding behind him, and only vaguely conscious of the other, slower motorbike that shadows him from a distance. Every last bit of his substantial mental reserves are being devoted towards one singular objective, innumerable calculations and probabilities being systematically analyzed and sorted as he strives to formulate a plan...
...a plan to achieve the impossible.
Or rather, what common sense and logic would deem impossible. Fortunately, the prowess of a Mark XIII is far from common...
In less than three seconds, Thanatos has his plan.
Thanatos' motorcycle is now dangerously close to the enemy task force, its speed well exceeding 300 kph. The hostile vehicles are clearly in view now; the six flat-bedded trucks travel in a horizontal line, flanked on either side by the Type Z-12 Assault Vehicles, their deadly cannons gleaming fiercely, even in the weak sunlight of the dead plain. The cannons are only now beginning to train their sights on the fast approaching motorcycle--it appears it is difficult to focus on such a quick moving target, even with the near instantaneous coordination of the MASS-possessed.
The android slowly rises from the pilot's seat, reinforced frame struggling against the violently whipping wind as he finally manages to stand upright, feet planted firmly on the speeding, metallic platform. His mind continues working at lightning efficiency even as he takes one step forward, preparing himself for the inevitable trials and tribulations that are very soon to come. It is nearly undeniable that the infallible targeting systems of the Assault Vehicles have locked onto his motorcycle's signature--highly accurate systems that not even his own transportation will be capable of dodging. There are only a matter of microseconds before the computerized tracking systems are ordered to fire on their target, and that time does not take long in passing.
The two massive cannons of the twin Assault Vehicles explode simultaneously, countless smaller warheads released from every other possible mechanical orfice as the gray sky is suddenly ablaze with deadly fireworks. Thanatos stands calmly atop his blazing motorcycle, hands raised, overcoat billowing ferociously about him, visor glinting brightly in the half-crazed light show as the faintest traces of a smile materialize on his features.
Time slows. Seconds move to slower microseconds which move to even slower nanoseconds which move, eventually, to the nearly nonexistently slow attosecond, a period of time representing one billionth billonth of a second. Time, for all extensive purposes, has ceased.
The sight is, to say the least, very impressive. Thanatos stands poised atop a frozen motorbike, his unmoving hands outstretched towards the veritable wall of assorted missiles and rockets that hang in front of him. The high-impact, condensed rounds of the Assault Vehicles' main cannon loom in front of him, their volatile contents potent enough to obliterate an entire village. Even the android's lightning fast thought processes have all but ceased in the veritable void that now encompasses the scene.
Yet there is movement here, slow as it might be. Tendrils of invisible energy moving at nearly the speed of light emenate sluggishly from the frozen android, snaking out in every direction. Representing small pieces of Thanatos' consciousness, these tendrils slowly penetrate each and every one of the hanging warheads, wrapping gently around the control mechanims of each of the weapons as Thanatos' consciousness endeavors to grant impending doom a new destination...
Time speeds back up.
In an instant Thanatos' mind is flooded as he works feverishly to avert the courses of hundreds of projectiles, sending them spinning off in random directions, their intended target forgotten. There is no time for any measure of preciseness or accuracy, and certainly no time to redirect the missiles towards their sender; rather, Thanatos merely attempts to cast each of the warheads away from the motorcycle. And he succeeds.
The air is lit anew as weapons of every sort and description fly across the gloomy sky, exploding in brilliant blossoms of multicolored fire as their sensitive targeting systems overload. Rockets spin erratically towards the distant horizon, leaving lines of scorching flame as they slam into the gray earth below. Guided missiles stumble in midair, falling prematurely back to the ground as they produce one concussive explosion after another. Several projectiles skitter off in the direction of the expedition, but thankfully, they expend themselves before they reach the small circle of automobiles. The two gigantic shells from the Assault Vehicles' main cannons fly vertically upwards, bursting apart in a devestating expenditure of energy that puts the other explosions clearly to shame.
Thanatos lowers his black-gloved hands, fireball after fireball rocking his elongated motorcycle as it continues to accelerate at breakneck speeds, turning sharply right as it aims for the small opening between the farthest flat-bedded truck and one of the two Assault Vehicles. Before the fearsome cannon has a chance to fire again, Thanatos' motorbike is through the gap between the two vehicles, the android himself leaping lithely from a platform moving at speeds well exceeding 350 kph to land heavily on the top of the Type Z-12 Assault Vehicle. His motorbike barrels past, sheer milimeters from the massive treads of the enemy tank.
In one fell movement Thanatos absorbs the shock of his landing, rising swiftly to his feet as he takes a step forward, one hand latching firmly onto the Assault Vehicle's reinforced hatch. Mechanical joints straining, the assassin pries the hatch upwards, breaking its thick locks as he drops quickly into the confined chamber below.
The chamber within the Assault Vehicle is cramped and confined; two pilots direct the tank from a control panel in its front, the gunner manipulating its armaments from a similar location further back. Before the MASS-possessed have even been given a second's worth to react, Thanatos has already sent a throwing dagger spiraling into the back of the neck of the gunner, creating a satisfying sizzle as the Aegisite alloy reacts almost instantly with the small amount of the MASS organism present in the man's head.
In a blur of deathly speed Thanatos reaches the front of the vehicle, sending a dagger deep into the skull of the copilot before the MASS-possessed man has even risen from his seat. The last MASS-possessed has time to stand, its features impassive and eyes sightless as it grasps the knife at its belt. Before it has time to act further, however, a third and final dagger gracefully arcs into its forehead, splattering the surrounding machinery with gore as it slumps forward, the token sizzling sound indicating that the last of the MASS within the three bodies has been irrevocably destroyed.
The android moves with haste, throwing the corpses from their respective seats as he gazes out through the small view port, analyzing the current situation in a flash. The remaining Assault Vehicle is now within range of the rest of the expedition, the convoy as a whole now prepared to disembark its troops in less than twenty seconds. Keeping the vehicle's bearing as it is, Thanatos moves swiftly to the chamber's rear, taking the gunner's chair as he begins to manipulate controls, aware of their function after less than a second's worth of examination. He begins swiveling the gun to the right, bringing it to bear on the Assault Vehicle that guards the hostile convoy's other flank...
...it won't be guarding it for very much longer.

Kimato's mind screams in anguish, overloaded by the thousands of voices, speaking as one. To her, to each other...to others like her. It is like listening to Hell. The language is mostly strange to her. She hears the majority of the voices, their tones low and soft, speaking as one as an undercurrent to her own thoughts. Then the occasional cry for help, voices she has never heard, voices she is sure are other captives like herself.
She can see through her own eyes. She can hear through her own ears...but she still cannot move. Dimitri holds her down firmly, though her body has long since stopped struggling against his grip. She just lays there, silent and staring up through dead eyes that still see, praying for this nightmare to be over.
Will I be lost like this forever? Locked inside my own body, unable to move or to speak? Will this nightmare ever end?
She doesn't know. She can only lay there and wait for what will happen next. Staring up at Dimitri's pained, fearful face, Kimato Ginzjou waits to lose her battle or her life, for she does not know how she can win.

Argis stand there not sure what situation to take care of first the situation of Kimato; and the attack on the mass already happening. How could two disasters happen all at once. Argis must make up his mind help Thanatos, or help Kimato. Argis sees the situation with Kimato is under control as Dimitri which I’m sure they are close friends and the only people I know that can help is Dimitri and Nicholi, but Nicholi is not here so its up to Dimitri.
Argis merely says “Kimoto I hope that you can beat this once and for all.”
Argis departs for battle with Thanatos he charge full force on his horse the army is about 100 km…50km…25km…10km…5km. Argis rises and stand on the back of his horse the jump as his horse stops on a dime the two mass react quickly and level the guns at the horse both about to fire. When two Shurrikans hit them on top of their heads Argis fall on the ground.
The mass react to their new enemy they level their guns. Argis lands a kick on the tip of one gun it slams in to it owners ribs and shatters it the man choughs up blood and fall dead. The group of mass aim their guns once again. Argis grabs the nearest mass they fire the mass front vanishes in a bloody mess they take aim again, and fire the sheer force of the blast sends Argis flying uncontrollably in to a truck.
Leaveing a huge dent. The truck stops. The two men inside get out finding the samurai face up on the ground not moving one levels his gun. When Out of no where a kick sacks the gun side ways and hit the car falls to the ground and goes off the man fall to the ground with a bullet hole in his temple. Argis still moving his legs makes a violent jerk sending Argis body in a spin landing him on his feet he pulls out his katana. And stabs threw the shotgun aimed at him the sword breaks though the back of the gun it pierces the heart of the man. He stares in shock and Argis makes a thrust as it go though the other side Argis yanks up cutting a large chunk from the man he falls dead.
A gun reaches Argis’s head Argis drops to ground spins cut the legs above the knee cap the man fall letting off a shot it goes wild at hit a mass possessed in the wind pipe he grabs his neck and makes a gargling sound and he falls. Argis stabs down piercing the forehead the mass stops moving.
Argis sees a mass charging with her long sword (it has saw blade edges o the top). He gets in to ready stance cuts at the blade it hits the ground Argis moves his blade back and the sword shatters in to two before the first piece hit the ground Argis be head the female in a quick and painless cut. Argis runs towards Thanatos to see if he needs any help.

As Argis dispatches each MASSian, Kimato hears a voice go silent in her head. None of the droning voices...only the unique, overtoned voices. Voices like her own. A man cries out and falls silent. A woman sighs...in relief, Kimato thought...and her voice is no more. Some wail, cry out, or curse in their last moments. Some simply sigh, like the woman. Others breathe something that she swears sounds like, "Thank you..." before they fall into silence, joining their fellow captives in the blessed afterlife.
Is that how it will be? A peaceful surrender to silence after what seems an eternity of listening to this madness? A fall into darkness after seeings yourself destroy everyone and everything you held dear? A release into emptiness after so much pain? Will this soon be my fate as well?
Kimato stares up into Dimitri's face, hearing the sounds of the battle around her mixed with the montag of voices in her mind.
I have to do something. I have to get away from here. Perhaps if I move away from the MASS' influence, I can break free of this.
"Dimitri." She watches his attention turn fully to her face as she forces out each word. "Get...away. Got t-t-to get me a-a-away from..." She cannot finish. But she hopes he understands.
Dimitri...I am counting on you!

Post by Whitakker on Jun 16, 2005 18:02:44 GMT -5
*Whitakker's vehicle rockets toward the veritable army that is near at hand. He presses the cruise control button on the dashboard, keeping the speed at about 70 mph. Slowly, carefully, Whitakker crawls his way to the hood of the rugged four-wheeler, and rises to a crouch on it's hood. The distance closes faster than can be believed. Before impact, Whitakker caught sight of Thanatos commandeering one of the assault vehicles. Good. Just before contact is made, Whitakker jumps off of the vehicle's hood, and virtually flies through the air, drawing his sword in mid-flight. He lands on a flatbed truck...full of Massians armed to the teeth with melee weaponry. Thank goodness there are no guns on board. Just as soon as Whitakker had finished his thought, a burly man steps from the middle of the throng of twenty or so, armed with a massive shotgun, aimed directly at Whitakker.
Aw, crap...
