AN: Behold! My greatest song ever! After twenty thousand edits (literally, if you count those times I’d stare hopelessly at a comma for an hour before changing it to a semi-colon), it’s finally here and wonderful to behold. Read and enjoy! And envision the awesome rock music in the background (currently non-existent).
Left Behind
Pulled up at the tennis courts
Five minutes late.
I watched the bus drive off
With a cry of dismay.
I ran after the bus
And cried, “Don’t leave me!”
But the bus didn’t stop
And all my friends were laughing.
Left Behind
Was I out of my mind?
They were there, and I was not.
So, I was left behind.
I felt so abandoned.
Did no one say, ‘Where’s Michael?’
Never thought I’d be betrayed.
It was all so psycho.
Left Behind
Was I out of my mind?
They were there, and I was not.
So, I was left behind.
I was at Spring Lit
For the writing contest.
I walked into the auditorium.
“Hey, where’s everybody else?”
None of them were there,
I ran out to the van;
They’d all gone to lunch,
I’d been left to starve and…
Relient K concert
My favorite band.
I missed the trip,
It didn’t go as I planned.
My friends all told me,
That I was pretty dumb.
They said, “You missed it.
Concert of the Millennium.”
That weirdo Jason Smith,
He was there every time.
He knew I was going,
But he left me behind.
Left Behind
Was I out of my mind?
They were there, and I was not.
So, I was left behind.
I felt so abandoned.
Did no one say, ‘Where’s Michael?’
Never thought I’d be betrayed.
It was all so psycho!
Left Behind
Was I out of my mind?
They were there, and I was not.
So, I was left behind.
I was joking with my friends,
When the day was done.
They said I should be careful,
Should the Rapture come.
I just laughed it off.
I said, “Wait and see.
Jesus is patient.
He’s always waiting on me.”
Jesus Christ!
No, I’m not out of my mind.
And I give my live to Him,
He’ll be with me for all time.
He’s always loving.
I know He’s always there.
A powerful constant.
His grace is everywhere.
Jesus Christ.
He saved my life.
And I give my life to Him.
He won’t leave me behind.
Jesus Christ,
Saved my life.
And I give my life to Him.
He won’t leave me behind.
AN: HAHA! Take that Jason! Yeah. So, completely true, what happened. The tennis team, spring literary, and the people who went to the Relient K concert; all of ‘em. Left without me. Now, the tennis team, I can’t really blame. But spring lit…. I mean, they left me to starve! No lunch! I had to walk to McDonalds. But I did meet these three really nice people and get to wonder around the college campus for an hour. Unsupervised. (insert maniacal laughter here) And as for the concert. My parents wouldn’t let me go because there wasn’t adult supervision. Now, I wouldn’t be able to complain if I hadn’t been the one who started asking people if they wanted to go to the concert in the first place! Later, I found out Jason’s dad went. Life is stupid like that. And then I was at a youth weekend at my church, and we were at our family group’s home, and we were about to go back to church, but I had to get something. I expected half the group to have left without me, but they were all still there. I take this to symbolically mean: The world (represented by school activities and concerts) doesn’t really care about you, and is quick to overlook you, while Jesus (represented by a church activity) always has you marked as ‘number one’ on the priorities list. Which then became the meaning of this song. Anyway, yeah, here it is. Awesome, no? And Jason Smith is still an ok guy.
