Picture a world remarkably like ours, but different in many important ways. Picture here also, a great-giant tree. The tree is known quite simply as The Skywillow, for it rose up into the very sky itself, and it had been there for as long as even the eldest of the elders could remember.
The truly remarkable thing about the tree was that the humans of this world had built an entire city within and without it's trunk and boughs. The immense bustling metropolis stretched from the lowest part of the trun, to the very crown of this botanical wonder, so high up that one could see the mists rising up from the very Edge itself.
Mystified as historians were my the tree's life span and growth, it only serves as the setting for our story. We are concerned with the life of one individual living in Skywillow: a young man named Cyril.
End of intro.....

1. Cyril Cyril was as "normal" a young man as you could find. He lived with two caring parents, his mother, Requia, and his father, Noctus, in a house among the branches of the Skywillow. Most of Cyril's days passed in a rather idyllic fashion, helping his father operate his small dry goods shop, or visting friends in various locations of the Willow; the most common meeting place being the Crown Park. The park was a tropic garden at the topmost branches with a beautiful view of the surrounding valleys, mountains, and, of course, the Edge. The story starts on one such day, where Cyril is meeting his closest friends: Mina, a smart, red-haired girl who is Cyril's unofficial "girlfriend", and Lacius; a sarcastic and pale skinned boy around Cyril's age, at the park. As the trio gaze out into the Edge, Cyril looks around as his friends and speaks first. "I wonder what's on the other side of that thing." he sighed with a rather dreamy looking in his eye. "Uh-oh, here we go again, Mina." Lacius groaned. Mina gives Lacius a scathing glance and looks to Cyril, who is still staring distantly at the Edge, seeming to have not heard Lacius's comment at all. Mina smiles to herself and laughs. "Cyril, you're a real dreamer." "Is that a bad thing?" Cyril replies, snapping back to reality. "No, I think it's romantic." Mina laughs. "The word is "Dreamer." And you know what? It really does suit me" Cyril quips as he joins in with Mina's laughter. Taking her hand, they both leave the park, leaving Lacius by himself. "Oh, boy..." Lacius groans as he begins to follow after his departed friends. (I promiss this will get much better. I also apologize for the sappy stuff that managed to leak in. )
