Morning. The sunlight is barely visible as it peeks over the horizon. As she sits in the grass marvelling nature's wonders, Carrie takes her conciousness to more important matters. Knowing she had picked a most unusual time of day to schedule her meeting, she grins at the thought of a groggy, baggy-eyed combatant coming to greet her. Fresh and awake, she sits and enjoys the rush, the nature, and the feel of her shurikens pressed against her abdomen and thigh. A lone figure can be seen in the distance, and in spite of her anxiety she begins to hum to herself, loudly.
Oh what a beautiful morning, Oh what a beautiful day... I've got a wonderful feeling! Everything's going my way!

Feeling somewhat tired Kaito walks foward toward his apparent goal. The woman sitting on the grass obviously lost in the nature surrounding her. He smiles to himself, even though the only way to tell is the faint contortion of his face mask. He looks around to scout out any potential threats and places he would need to go in case things got ugly, for a life of solitude had taught him to asses all situations as dangerous. His pace quickend slightly as he approached the woman, and in a simple, smooth movement brought his sword in its sheath to his left side from his back. The wind blew strands of his hair all about and in his eyes. He was indeed ready for whatever challenge was sure to meet him on this day.
He closed the distance rather quickly and stops within several meters of the woman. Just being near her made his wrists itch with the wooden needle projectiles he kept there and his blood pumping furiously through his veins. "Excuse me miss, but why am I at this particular location at this time?" He says while looking the strange woman in the eye.

"Good morning. Glad you could make it."
Carrie tries to keep the mood light, hoping to be underestimated, a move that would gain her the high ground.
"I'll save introductions for later. As arranged previously, we are here to decide if your capabilities meet the standards I expect. If you are willing to accept my challenge, you'll have to fight me. If I find you to be a worthy opponent, you'll then have the honor of my friendship, respect, and esteem. Do you accept?"
She stands, and finds her eye level at the man's chest. Extending her hand and looking up to the man's face, Carrie grins faintly at her opponent.

His muscles tense slightly under his clothes at the movement of the women. Off in the distance he heard the gentle sounds of nature, the breeze whispering, the birds chirping loudly in the trees, and somewhere a soft bubbling brook. Seeing no way out of a fight he moves, and with a graceful, smoothing motion he attaches his sword to his back using the leather clips on his cloak to attach the sheath to allow for easy removal of his sword, and then he places his hands inside his sleeves letting his fingers wander across the grainy wood of his needles incase he needed to use them at any moment.
"Well miss, it looks as if we should get started with this fight. I shall give you the honor of first move."
As he says this he gives a gentle bow and backs away a few feet, his steps soft and almost unheard against the ground. Every muscle tensed and poised for action in this suspensful moment. Nothing was left now but to wait, and to watch his cloak swirl with the breeze.

"Quite the gentleman. Very well."
Turning her back to the man, she draws a shuriken and clasps it in the palm of her hand, carefully and readily. Suddenly and seemingly from nowhere, she swings around and delivers a blow to the man's midsection.

He tenses an goes to complete a back handspring in the middle of her swing, but not before being grazed by her blow. The breath left his lungs with a burning passion as he landed on his feet and grasped his stomache. He arched an eyebrow at this attack as he drew his sword in an eloquent motion.
"Well this might just prove to be more interesting than I had expected."
As he said this he readied his katana in front of his face. For a moment his stance was solid and unmoving, yet his eyes darted from place to place, evaluating his situation. With a smirk he planted his right foot into the ground and sprinted towards her dirt and dust flying and swirling around his steps as he moved toward her. Within a few feet of her he crouched and dropped to the ground letting his momentum slide him past her, once past her he posistioned his feet and kicked up. Launching himself in the air facing her back he let his muscles tense up as he went to bring his katana down in a diagonal slash hoping to take her from her shoulder to her hip.

Like a cloud of opression Carrie can feel the blade's wake before it reaches her. Instinctively, she drops and makes a roll to the left. Regaining her stance, she quickly turns to face him.
"Not bad...But you'll have to be faster than that if you plan to actually hit me".
With a smirk on her face, she launches the shuriken.

As he lands on his feet he stumbles somewhat before bringing up his katana's blunt edge causing the suriken to strike his sword and deflect harmlessly and in a smooth motion he lets go of his sword with one arm an flicks his hand causing four rather large wooden needles about as long as one's hand to fall into his palm. Then he slides to his left several feet across the slick grass and swings his arm launching all four needles at the less vital parts of her body in an attempt to hinder her progress of the battle. Then he backs away a few feet and in a cirular motion flanks her to avoid a counter attack.

Carrie has not expected this. Caught off-guard and with a few seconds at her disposal, she manages to dodge three of the needles. The fourth one peirces through her jacket, cutting her skin a bit. Of course it leaves splinters, but for now she puts that aside and plans her next move. She draws her dagger from its holster on her right thigh.
She is idle for a few seconds, then she drops her arms to her sides, biding time. BAM...She slashes the man's right arm unnoticed.
All too easy...

He stumbles backward in pain, his whole arm felt as if it were ablaze. He looks down to see a sizable rip in his sleeve with the surrounding fabric stained in blood revealing a long, bleeding wound on his forearm. He looked up and smirked slightly with his teeth ground in pain.
"Well all in good fun eh?"
He said as he quickly sheathed his sword with his good arm, he then removed a handkerchief from his pocket and tied it around his arm tightly to stop the blood flow.
"I'll Show You FUN!!"
He says raising his voice, then in a flash of white and red he snaps his right arm forward sending forth the six remaining needles from his sleeve aiming for points of incapacitation. As soon as he does this he unsheathes his katana with his right arm and sprints forward towards her. Then with the utmost precision he pivots and swings at her midsection hoping to at the very least graze her torso.

"So you've decided to get serious. Good."
Not willing to fall for the same tactic twice, she twists and turns in ways that help her avoid every one of the needles. The katana, however, poses a problem. The sun is rising still, and at the level of their eyes, making it hard for both combatants to see clearly. Closing her eyes she performs a backflip, and rather than risk her vital points being slashed, she stops the blade with her shoe. She knows the cut will slow her down, but bearing the pain she backs up, shifting her weight to her uninjured foot.
"You fight with passion in your soul. But be cautious...If you focus on your objective and not how you plan to acheive it, you'll surely fail."
She raises her dagger once more in a fighting stance, readying herself for a counterattack.

He watches her for a few moments and then flicks the small amount of blood from his blade and sheaths it in one smooth motion.
"Indeed you are correct."
He said as his stance loosened, yet his eyes remained ever watchful of her every move. He did have a plan, however unorthodox it was he is sure it will work. His body swayed with the gentle breeze, he felt at one with his surroundings. It was something the old man taught him a long time ago.
"When one is in doubt trust your feelings, leave it to your body to react." Said the old man in his mind.
"I will...do as he taught me..."
He mumbled as he stayed in his stance gently swaying in the breeze calculating everything he felt as he stared her down. A bird chirped in the distance as his cloak flowed around him softly.

Carrie regards the man with a new outlook. In the short time she has known him, she already begins to feel as if she should respect his tactics. She stands now at-ease, and puts her dagger back into its holster.
"Truly you are wise. Answer me this one question, and I'll call this fight to an end: What in life do you hold closest to your heart?"
The wind blows playfully through her hair as she awaits his answer.

His gray eyes follow her every movement. The whole motion seemed to take a lifetime of eternities. As the motion ended time seemed to jump back to real time as his head swam with potential thoughts of trickery or in consideration of her question, he couldn't tell. The tail of his cloak lowers to the ground while the rest floats in the breeze like a white and red angry flag. For a moment he lowered his head and spoke in a soft tone barely heard above the whisper of the wind.
"The thing I hold closest to my heart is my blade and my coat. Sure they may just be material possesions, inanimate, cold, incapable of giving any response back. Yet in a way I feel as if they are the rements of the Old Man I once knew. He was truly the only one who ever cared for me after the MASS ruined the beging of my life. Don't get me wrong I have no quarrel with the MASS they are merely trying to live, as I want the same. I only want to live out my life as easily as I can without all of this violence."
As he finished his statement he turned his back to her, screening the surrounding area, watching the wildlife, listening to the descrete sounds all around him. He hoped that she would hurry up and call off the fight so he could be on his way to find a way to repair his cloak that he held so dear.

She extends her hand towards the man formally, hoping her handshake will be returned this time.
"My name is Carrie, and you have proven your reputation to be true to me. I thank you for the privelege of fighting you."
Though his answer had been a little odd, she found it to be intriguing nonetheless. With the faintest motion, she smiles at the man.
