Not me. I got a new thread started because of a bad joke on this one.
*cranks Bob Dylan up to 11*
Fight the power, man.

*Argis put his head in his hands.**Sobs* does he not get it does, he really not get it. It was a d**n metaphor. Yeah lets trust George and Di ck to protect animals hey while we are at it lets trust our Michel Jackson with kids.( Don’t you see I am using Michel Jackson to emphasize the fact your trusting a oil drilling (failure), big hunter, big biz lover. To say hey you guys can drill al long as you guys don’t hurt those cute little animals, Ok you promise. Ok good have fun. Maybe you’ll get this.) Its like trusting 5 year olds with 100 dollars in quarters in a Arcade, with their favorite games in it. Now do you understand Witty.
Ok next fine your titled to your own opinion on the purpose of the war. Thou it has changed a lot…(they have weapons, they support the attacks in 911, he’s a threat To the world, he sells nukes.)(BUT THIS IS NOT ABOUT THAT *had to stress*)
Now first the talks about big biz and the man, ARE in fact on topic. You see if we cover the background of this argument such as the war of big biz VS small biz, Government VS the as you call them “Tree huggers” (I call them people who give a f*ck what happens! To the trees, oceans, lakes, rivers, ect.) Then we can build a better understanding of the argument causing a better debate on the issue then we might have before…

Of course I'm against drilling in the Artic National Wildlife Refuge. Very little can come from it; sure, come a decade or so from now gas prices might go down for a little bit, but then what exactly is the good ol' USA going to do when the Refuge dries up and it has a gigantic environmental crisis on its hands?
For once Kimato and I agree almost perfectly in political viewpoint, something I never thought would happen. We must cease our dependency on limited, harmful, and inefficient energy sources before it is too late. Automobiles capable of excellent performance on alternate fuel sources have been introduced, yes, but the devil that is big business has cared too much about its profits from day to day to even fathom introducing something new.
I'm going to counter Whitakker's points, simply because Arlen's posts were ridiculously apathetic and ignorant, as well as a representation of a portion of America's populace that I find downright scary. One sentence in particular Arlen wrote was terrifying: "...but we did elect them to chose what to do with our money so I mean what the hey..." Sweet Jesus. The Democratic ideals I could preach from that excerpt alone would cover several pages. Nevertheless, on to Whitakker...
No, I don't want to trust you. This assumption is if anything worse than what Arlen wrote--instead of simply being indifferent, you are placing all of your faith in a half-hearted notion that has not in any way been clarified or expanded upon.
Prove it. As things stand now, I see the current Republican administration being just about as dentrimental to the environment as possible.
On a side note, global warming and such consequences from pollution are by no stretch of the imagination myths. Recalling a report Discover Magazine article I read about four issues ago, gigantic sheets of ice the size of states have been breaking off from Antartica, the only possible cause melting that has occurred due to higher worldwide temperatures. The net temperature in California was expected to increase something like two degrees in the next twenty years, and massive flooding due to melting ice was expected to submerge Miami in less than forty.
These dangers are real and cannot be changed. The causes of the these dangers (pollution, apathy, and greed) can be changed. Your choice.
(I apologize if I was overly critical in this post. Perhaps I too harshly attacked the opinions and ideals of others, but honestly, what I saw in this thread made me sick. There are certain issues in which I refuse to retain even the wispiest traces of subtlety, and this is one of them.)

................. I'm gonna ignore that entirely pointless attack.
Thanatos, I may be terrible at debating in your eyes, but that won't stop me from expressing my opinion to the best of my ability. I would however agree with you that big business is so stuck in their rut of power to ever accept new forms of energy that would dominate over their precious oil.

I want both of you to stop acting like idiots. I'm tired of hearing you two assault each other. Whitakker, Argis's posts are very much readable now. If you can't read them, your just a friggin moron. Argis, PLEASE stop attacking someone after they insult you. Technically, that would still be flaming. Rather than comment, ignore the individual.
As for ANWR, I don't have a particular opinion. I believe that we should find alternative methods for fuel. Electricity and solar power are both efficient, and non polluting .
