{SPOILERS}
ESB is best because of the original trilogy (which the new one can't hold a candle to), it develops the story the most. Luke finally meets Yoda, Han and Leia fall in love, and it leaves fans wanting to know more when it ends with Han being frozen in carbonite. Very cool scene with asteroids, and the extra comedy is very nice .

Very tough decision, and I've decided not to place a vote. The first three are just classic. When they first hit the scene, they brought a new level to films that was previously unimagined, and they were way ahead of their time. The plot, too... ahh, the plot. The characters were also wonderfully developed, and not static whatsoever (look at Luke as the whiney moisture farmer in New Hope compared to the newly composed Jedi in Return). Of the original three, Return of the Jedi is my favorite. It is such a beautiful conclusion to the series. Also, when viewed with episodes I, II, and III, it completes the prophecy about the Chosen One, and closes all of the loops opened in III. Episode I is by far my least favorite, just because it seemed to lack a lot. It was still a superb movie, but I felt it was more focused on visual effects rather than the Star Wars ideal. I can't really elaborate, as my opinion of this one is based solely on emotions. Episode II took the new movies to a new level, created a different atmosphere than that of the original three, but still great. Unfortunately, I got so caught up in the visual and special effects of this movie the first two times I saw it that it took a third time for me to realize exactly what the plot was. Probably my fault, though Episode III was a masterpiece, to say the least. It had a much darker atmosphere than any of the other films, and it contained more visual and special effects than the other movies while not drawing at all from the plot, which is a hard thing to pull off. Still, it seemed a bit condensed, which is perfectly understandable... there is enough that could have been put into that movie to lengthen it to ten hours easily, without a dull moment. It HAD to be condensed. I'd have to say that my 'favorite' would be a combination of Revenge and Return. The two, together, really tell the entire saga, what with the prophecy, the emergence and defeat of the Sith, the defeat and reemergence of the Jedi, the story of Luke and Leia, of Yoda and Ben and Anakin (and their 'spirits' remaining after death), etc. Sorry for such a long post; I consider myself a Star Wars nerd

Tricky question. I choose Episode 1 because Qui Gon Jin was the freaking man, and Darth Maul was the coolest Sith Lord in the series. And the pod race. And it probably has the Happiest ending except for Return of the Jedi. And Jar Jar Binks had a big part, and he was cool. And unlike the others, Menace is complete in itself. It requiers no back story, or sequel had it not had one. The only real loose thread is that the Emperor is not taken care of.
Few people like Episode Two. Too bad, because it was the bomb. Everyone said the Anakin/Padma romance scenes were lame. They weren't. They made sense. You see, Anakin is the protagonist of the whole series. The first two movies were about establishing him as an actual person. People don't want to see Darth Vader as a child. They don't to see him in love. That's why no one likes Episodes One and Two (well, other than myself and a few other people, apparently. People who call themselves 'real' Star Wars fans dislike these two episodes. WRONG. People who dislike these two can't call themselves real Star Wars fans. These movies are what make the series real.) Now, I admit this movie is confusing at times. I sometimes wonder what was going through Dooku's mind. He tells Obi Wan about the Sith Lord in control of the Senate. Why? It could have done more harm than good. Presumably to get Obi Wan to join him. Weird. The Death Star is brought in in this movie. So is Fett. Words cannot describe how glad I am he was not in III. I don't want to see Bobo Fett as an angsty teenager. No, I don't. Points for when Mace Windu caught on fire. Though its not too odd. I mean, that guy is always on fire.
Episode three was perfect. There was nothing wrong with this movie. It opened up on a huge battle. Very sweet. Loved Dooku's death. Man, that guy cannot do Sith Lord. Wizard, not really, but more than Sith Lord. I was sad to see Windu go, but such was the story. Loved when the Emperor named his apprentice. The pause after 'Darth' gave the audience time to scream 'VADER' in there minds. LOVED the scene on that volcanic planet. The fight between Anakin and Padma, and then Obi Wan. Beautiful. And the 'You were suppose to destroy the Sith! Not join it!' line was like Heaven on Earth. It really did tie up all loose ends.
The Original Triolgy is the bomb, but it's not as good as the new three. The technology, while it was good in the 70's, is put to shame by the new movies. And Carrie Fisher just isn't as hott as Natalie Portman, never was. I did love a New Hope though. The only loose thread is that Darth Vader surved. Again, this movie is almost complete in itself. But it needs all that backstory. This movie shows rebels fighting for justice, and good conquering evil. It's off the charts.
Episode 5 is probably my least favorite. Just because all the others are just too cool. It contains the most famous moment from Star Wars. An excellent movie. Easy par with the others. Just not as good.
Somewhere between 5 and 6, Luke becomes the man. Don't know where. 6 is AWESOME. The effects are much better than 4 and 5 (or maybe it's that with all the extra stuff Lucas has put in there you just forget the bad.) The mucis scene in Jabba's place is the funniest part in the series. *HAHAHA* Darth Vader accapt's his destiny and destroys the Sith. And the whole gang is reunited at the end. The perfect ending.
Star Wars rules the world. I hope Lucas goes back and redoes the original trilogy with all the new tidbts that have been added. ;D

I voted Return of the Jedi for several reasons. First off, the battle between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker was AMAZING. The tension keeps you on the edge of your seat, because no matter how many times you watch it, it's almost impossible to convince yourself that everything will DEFINITELY be okay. There's always that chance that Luke might turn or just be killed. There's always that voice inside your head screaming at Darth Vader to do something before it's too late when the Emperor is killing Luke. Not to mention the HUGE sigh of relief when Darth Vader...I mean, Anakin Skywalker...rescues his son, and you realize you're dizzy because you've actually been holding your breath since Luke first struck out at the Emperor.
My LEAST favorite would probably be The Empire Strikes Back. It has nothing to do really with the plot or the SFX or anything, it just so happens that I like the other movies more.
My second favorite is most DEFINITELY Revenge of The Sith, for reasons previously stated by at least one person above: the special FX, the superb acting, the amazing scenes in it...although I was really disappointed in Count Dooku's death. He was betrayed. It was a cheap shot, even Anakin acknowledges this (though it did Dooku little good, since he was already decapitated at the time). My favorite scenes were probably some of the calmer, quieter moments of the movie...scenes between Anakin and Padme...especially the scene where she tells him she is pregnant. I also love the scenes between Anakin and Chancellor Palpatine, though the entire time I was thinking, "NO ANAKIN NO!!!". These really threw some insight into the cunning of the Sith and how easily Anakin was turned to the Dark Side...not to mention what a genius Palpatine really was. I mean, if you think about it...he orchestrated everything from the beginning. It's quite plausible, if not an absolute fact, that he plotted to put Anakin and Padme together in Episode II because he knew Padme would be his weakness. Recall, it was Palpatine who suggested to Yoda and Windu that Obi-Wan and his apprentice be bodyguards for Padme. But now I'm off-topic.
Episode I...sigh. As a mere nine-year-old, as of yet unenlightened to the wonder and mystery of Star Wars, I spied Queen Amidala's face on a book at a book fair. I was intrigued, and bought it on the spot on credit, later asking my grandmother for the money and getting into all sorts of trouble for not asking her BEFORE I bought it. Still, I got my way and then I read it, and fell instantly in love. From that day forward I became a Star Wars fanatic. So how can I not love Episode I? It made me what I am today!!
The rest were good. A New Hope, Episode II, I loved both. The Original Trilogy far outstretches the new trilogy for many reasons. First of all, the Original Trilogy IS the stuff that sci-fi movies are made of. They set the standard for sci-fi, and without the technological advancements made during the making of the Original Trilogy, the new trilogy would never have been so good. Plus (forgive me Natalie, Hayden, and the rest of you), the acting was far better. The whole integrity of the film was just much better. And...sorry to disagree with you, Hanson...but Carrie Fisher was a much better Princess Leia than Natalie Portman will EVER be a Padme Amidala. Not to mention she was and is one of the most beautiful actresses in the world, second only to Audrey Hepburn...and it's a close second. Aside from all that, the Original Trilogy followed the Hero's Quest to a T, which is one of the elements that made it so good. Anakin's saga was much less complete and well-built, because sometimes it almost seemed as if Lucas himself didn't know where the story was going. Still-and-all, under the name Star Wars protection and forgiveness for faults are abundant, and the faults were so minimal as to be easily forgiven in any case. -Kimato-

without the technological advancements made during the making of the Original Trilogy, the new trilogy would never have been so good. -Kimato- That's completely true. Lucas knew that it would have been impossible to do justice to Episodes I, II, and III with the technology of the 70's. That's one of the reasons the movies were done in the order they were. And I disagree with you over the Portman/Fishier thing. Also, this is something I've been wondering about for a while. In Episode II, the cloners on Kamino said a Jedi had given them their orders from a Jedi by the name of Syphadais (I know that's not it's spelled.) Obi-Wan says he thought that Jedi Master Syphadais was killed before that. So, my guess is that Dooku placed the order pretending to be Syphadais. An alternate theory is that Grievous is actually Syphadais resurrected, but I'm pretty sure that one is false. Does anyone know the real reason?

I was under the impression that the importance of the Jedi (not gonna try to spell it) who ordered the creation of the clones, and his death, was that it meant that the creation of the clones had been ordered LONG ago. I might be wrong, I need to watch it again.

I really wrestled with myself over episodes IV and VI, but VI won me over in the end. It wraps up the whole she-bang, and always leaves me happy.
Ah, Star Wars...how do I love thee? Let me count the ways...
Lets face it, folks. There never was, is, or will be a better movie series than Star Wars. The original trilogy was the classic hero's journey, and was masterfully done. The prequels are in a league of their own, and is this generation's Star Wars. Episode I brought back the magic that only Star Wars possesses in 1999, and set us up for the next two. Episode II was heaven, and kept those helpless romantics enthralled with torrid relationship between Anakin and Padme. And Episode III...*angels singing*...oh my. I was on the edge of my seat the entire movie, and I simply could not will myself to rise from my seat after the way it ended...the exact same spot Luke stood at, gazing at the blazing twin suns, Owen and Beru holding baby Luke...and with the same music that accompanied Luke in IV! I was on the verge of tears. The beginning of III was a blast(no pun intended), to say the least. R2 kicks uber-posterior! The way Palpatine swayed Anakin to the dark side, playing on his emotions of Padme's well-being was simply marvelous. And the final battle...oh sweet mercy, the final battle! I got double-vision the first minute of the fight, they were so darn fast! All I saw was a blur of blue! Episode III simply has no flaws, in my opinion. Episode IV...the one that started it all. For me, it's the nostalgia that keeps me enthralled with the original trilogy. Truly old-school sci-fi. Episode V was much darker, and you learned the awful truth of Luke's parentage. Without a doubt, the biggest coup in Hollywood scriptwriting. But Episode VI...*angels singing...again*. It wrapped up the whole thing, and as I said earlier, always leaves me warm inside. It's the best, in my opinion.
STAR WARS ROX MY SOX!!!
Whew...that was long. I myself am a Star Wars nutcase, like Rune.
